Noah Lyles and his Budapest Conquest story blew everyone’s minds at the 2023 World Athletics Championship. Elevating his world gold medal tally to six, he didn’t just defend his 200m title from Eugene but also won the 100m and 4x100m dash. Behind all the success, there are stories of hard work and grit. While these often remain hidden, Noah has happily let them out on many occasions.

An excerpt from a recent interview of his said, “I’ve of course trained my body to do things no one else has.” Interestingly, a social media upload showed a young US gymnast borrowing a few pages from those ‘things’ in the training regimen of Noah Lyles. In fact, the US sprinter himself gave away his tricks after he sought Noah’s suggestion to improve his performance.

American gymnast Frederick Richard recently uploaded a reel via his Instagram account. The reel carried the caption, “The Olympic vault grind begins #running #gymnastics #olympics.” The reel showcased Richard face-timing Noah Lyles and showing his vault run-up, which left the world champ in splits. However, Noah Lyles said that he would help the world bronze medalist improve. Notably, this post was a continuation of Richard’s previous Instagram upload, where he had only showcased Lyles’ reaction and his promise to help him out.

Keeping up with the promise, this footage carried the secret speed and physicality enhancement regime of the Budapest threepeater. The first exercise demanded the 19-year-old gymnast to run, jump, and hop up and down on a single leg on a 1.2m inclined slope. This was followed by sideways speed bounces over a thin and high box. Noah Lyles made things a little fun and interesting for Richard and asked him to play a reaction game with a training partner.

This involved Richard racing his partner from an initial resting position or a set of pushups. Lastly, the routine required the Michigan Wolverines’ gymnast to relax his body in the swimming pool. While helping out the fellow athlete, Noah himself has also been working out hard lately, keeping the upcoming big games in mind.

Training himself for the shorter tracks

Noah Lyles has recently uploaded several videos of himself lifting weights at the gym. The 6x world champ is strengthening his glutes and quads by squatting and lifting the right weights for his body. While his on-track training builds his endurance on the field, the gym workouts give his muscles explosive strength. This focus on explosive strength is probably motivated by his loss at the Eugene Diamond League.

Shorter tracks favor the sprinter, who has the highest explosive speed. While training for that powerful burst, Noah Lyles still hasn’t forgotten that the best body conditioner is quality sleep. Lyles also mentioned that he took a two-hour nap before clinching his 200m gold at the 2023 WAC. Will the Budapest threepeater be able to christen himself the Paris threepeater as well?
