At the Tae Ryong Park Academy, she organized an open house where she coached women and girls through various skills in Taekwondo. Beyond just physical training, she shared insights about her personal journey, highlighting the challenges she has overcome and the dedication required to achieve Olympic success. Skylar Park, a Taekwondo athlete who previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics, is starting her journey towards the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris with a special event celebrating International Women’s Day. Steven Rivest has been tangled with Skylar Park, whom he has known since she was a little child crawling around the building. Steven said jokingly on CBC, “We always joked she was already kicking right out of the womb”.

At just 24 years old, Skylar has already made a mark in the world of martial arts, and she recently took charge of her family’s martial arts academy in Winnipeg. Skylar hosted 3 inspiring sessions at the academy for next generation of young female practitioners, showcasing her skills and techniques before heading to Paris Olympics. This session was about the sport of taekwondo and basic self-defense exercises for teenage girls and women.

Her journey began during the 2016 World Taekwondo Junior Championships held in Burnaby, British Columbia, where she secured the gold medal in the 59kg weight class, marking a breakthrough moment in her career. After this she was fully transitioned into senior competition in 2017. Overall, Skylar Park’s initiative not only celebrates the achievements of women in sports but also promotes inclusivity, empowerment, and personal development among participants.

Park has been doing taekwondo since she could walk. She has dreamed of winning an Olympic gold medal since she was 2 years old. Skylar Park’s career reached new heights in 2019 with great achievements on the international stage. She secured a bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Championships in 57kg category. Followed it up with a silver medal at the Pan American Games in 57kg held in Lima. Park made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 and reached the quarterfinals in the fiercely competitive 57kg event.

Skylar continued her winning streak in 2022 by clinching her third consecutive gold medal at the Pan American Championships. She also achieved success at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix, securing 3 bronze medals, including an impressive performance at the Grand Prix Final in Riyadh. These achievements underscore Park’s relentless pursuit of excellence for achieving greatness on the global stage, setting the stage for an exciting journey as she prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
