Among the stars, 21year old legend Regan Smith from Lakeville displayed sheer determination.

When she won in 100- and 200-meter backstroke, she shared her words with her fans and said, “I still have a lot left to give. I knew I wasn’t done fighting. I knew that I was capable of more than I was putting out the past few years. It was hard for sure, but I’m really proud of how I came back.” And in the 2023 event, She marked her second swim of the night, claiming she is just getting started.

Not an easy defeat in swimming
When it comes to the 200 fly, Smith’s stellar performance secured her a well-deserved bronze with a time of 2 minutes and 6.58 seconds. Another tough competitor Canadian Summer McIntosh claimed gold (2:04.06), and Australia’s Elizabeth Dekkers took silver (2:05.46).

No doubt Smith’s determination was unmatched. And in the 50-back semifinals, she set a U.S. record with an impressive time of 27.10. In the finals, she narrowly missed gold by a mere 0.03 seconds, finishing second to Australian Kaylee McKeown. Lauren Cox of Great Britain secured third place in 27.20.
