Swimming GOAT Michael Phelps is a strong advocate of mental health. The 23-time gold medalist experienced depression and anxiety at the peak of his career when he won eight gold medals in the 2004 Olympics. Eventually, Phelps accepted his mental health issues and decided to work on it. Even today, the swimming legend takes immense care of his body, and in tandem recently shared a social media update about how he is caring for his health.?
On April 2, Phelps shared an Instagram story detailing his energetic workout. In his story, the swimming legend also thanked his personal trainer, Keenan Robinson.?

Phelps shared the stats of his 80-minute workout in his latest Instagram story. According to the screenshot, the swimmer performed ten different exercises of 37 sets and 3816 reps. Nevertheless, his workout consisted of five blocks, which meant five different intensity levels. The swimmer achieved a five on five as he attempted all of them. His workout calculator gave him a three on five and eight on ten, in terms of readiness and intensity, respectively.?
Moreover, the screenshot also revealed that Phelps holds two personal best records. Michael Phelps recognized that he was not the only one to suffer from mental health issues. Hence, when he began opening up about his struggles. He expressed that those suffering from the same problems should also do something for themselves. In fact, in 2022, Phelps told, in an interview with SI.com, ?I want people to actually do something.? He indicated he was dissatisfied with how the Olympics committee was working for mental wellness.?

In November 2015, Phelps opened up about his mental health struggles in an interview with?Sports Illustrated.?He made shocking revelations that he had suicidal thoughts, which he eventually fought back. While opening up about his struggles, Phelps realized that he was making himself feel relatable to others who were dealing with the same problems. Hence, he began talking about it frankly to lower the mental health stigma.

Phelps also shared that he began writing journals whenever he had negative thoughts. Moreover, his mental health foundation also holds a program called IM that focuses on water safety, physical, social, and emotional health and goal-setting.?
