Who is swifter: Michael Phelps or Polar Bear?

Phelps has undoubtedly dominated the human race with his extreme pace in water. However, this time he is compared with a whole other breed of animal. Although Polar Bears are also land mammals naturally, their ability to swim is marvelous. While comparing the two, AZ Animals stated, “According to a number of reports, polar bears may attain top speeds of roughly 6 mph (6.2 precisely). This appears to equal the fastest swimming speed of Michael Phelps.”

The crucial thing to notice here is Michael Phelps’ fastest speed is equal to a Polar Bear’s average speed. For instance, they wrote, “it’s crucial to remember that Michael Phelps swims at varying speeds depending on the swim competition, whereas the consistent swim average of polar bears is 6 mph. This speed is not Phelps’s average pace, but rather his highest record during his prime. Although Michael is reported to have reached this record, he has won the majority of his races by swimming more slowly. In fact, his career’s typical speed is estimated to have been around 4.5 mph.”

This is not the first time when the legend Michael Phelps is compared to any animal. However, this time, it was a statistical comparison. In 2017, Phelps raced with the Great White Shark. Any guesses about who would have won that race?

Although practically no human can defeat the sea beasts, Phelps came closer. To match the speed of The Great White, Phelps was provided with a monofin. Even though it helped him a lot, but not enough to defeat the beast. Phelps lost the historical race by a difference of two seconds. The Great White finished the 100m race in 36.1 seconds, whereas Phelps finished the race in 38.1 seconds.
