“Why Weren’t We Invited”: Michael Phelps’ Father Didn’t Invite His Kids to His Second Wedding, Swimming Legend Disclosed the Awkward Moment in Biography

Michael Phelps may have retired professionally, but he still continues to rule the pool like no other. Winning 28 Olympic medals, he is undeniably the Olympic GOAT. However, his road to success was never easy. It’s just not his professional hardships but also his personal experience that impacted him greatly.

Phelps was just nine years old when his parents divorced. While the young boy and his two sisters stayed back with his mother, Debbie, his father moved out. With time his relationship with his father grew distant! Such was the condition that he had no clue what his father was doing. Thus, when he saw significant development in his father’s life, Phelps was left stunned!

Phelps did not know how to react 

Living separately from his father from a young age, he was hardly aware of how his father’s life. Speaking on the same in his book, “Beneath The Surface,” he writes about his father’s relation. Having separated from Debbie, Fred Phelps started dating Jackie.

As ‘The Flying Fish’ says, he was not close to women his father was dating. Talking about one particular incident, Phelps said, “She was with my dad that day.” Narrating further, the legend revealed that his dad followed him to the bathroom. There, his father reached out to him, saying, “Hey, look what I got.”

Taken aback to see the ring, Michael, as he quotes, “was stunned.” Having no clue how to react, he was left wondering, “What do you say after seeing something like that?” The only question that kept him wondering was, “Why weren’t we invited?” He knew that his father had grown distant. However, he was not expecting to be not included in his father’s second wedding.

Michael Phelps now living an ideal life

Because of multiple reasons, Phelps never had the chance to build many memories with his father. But the times have changed, and so are the situations. Now a father himself, Phelps ensures to spend most of his time with his three young boys.

Having married the love of his life, Nicole, Phelps loves dotes on his family. A true family man, he is now leading an ideal life with his family. With his two elder sons starting school and the younger one growing up, Phelps finds himself busy with important dad responsibilities. Perhaps, the memories he has missed with his father, he can now re-create with his sons!
