Sometimes, a heartfelt gesture can have terrifying consequences, especially in the era of COVID-19. Adam Peaty, who has recently tested positive for the deadly virus, may have unknowingly spread it to other athletes. Following the 100m men’s breaststroke final, the British swimmer spotted gold medalist Nicolo Martinenghi. In a show of warm sportsmanship, Peaty approached the Italian, hugged him, and planted a friendly kiss on his cheeks.
Well, nobody batted an eyelid and instead, cheered Peaty for his sportsman spirit. However, as the news of the silver medalist being infected with the virus has spread, significant concerns are circulating in Paris. According to the general consensus, if the physical distancing norms are to be recalled, Martinenghi is at high risk of getting the virus as well.
