Is 'Bob the Cap Catcher' the unsung hero of the Paris Olympics? Share your thoughts!

Almost everyone knows about the character Bob the Builder, and thanks to the Paris Olympics, we now get a touch of Bob the Cap Catcher. The former, a cartoon character, used to construct and fix structures to provide welfare to the citizens of a town. However, the latter one has played almost a similar role today in the name of welfare. Bob the Cap Catcher, very much real and in the flesh, came to the LA Defense Arena today to save everyone from going late to watch another swimming battle.

Emma Weber took to the pool today for the 100m breaststroke event. Her participation in the semifinal was dependent on the result of Heat 4. However, the swimmer displayed a valiant effort as she took 1:07.65 minutes to touch the finishing line. The timing handed her the 8th position, but it was not enough to grab a ticket for the semifinal. But while generating pace in the event, she lost her headgear in the pool.

That incident led to disruption in the following Heat event as the participants were seen waiting for the headgear to be removed from the bottom of the pool. Meanwhile, someone in a little speedo appeared on the scene to pull up the gear from the pool. His energetic dive in the pool attracted accolades from everyone in the arena, resulting in the name “Bob the Cap Catcher” popping up for him. But did the soul-saver care for the title?

No, he did not. Just after retrieving the headgear from the bottom of the pool, he wasted no time in handing it over to the officials and siding himself among the crowd. During the short time, he baffled the crowd with his selfless job. In reply, the entire arena created waves to appreciate him. Really, not all superheroes come in capes; some come wearing a speedo and flaunting a flabby physique. Meanwhile, Emma Weber remained numb to the situation.

Her 23rd ranking in overall Heat standing failed to make her first Olympic appearance a sweet affair. Rather, her loss of headgear at the bottom of the pool and the following incidents brought unexpected fun among the swimming fans. The day also showcased a few positive results from the American side.

The women’s 100m breaststroke event let Emma Weber go with a long face. However, in the same event, Lilly King kept the American flag high with her top position in Heat-3 (1:06.10). As per the final standings, the newly engaged swimmer left the LA Defense Arena with the fifth rank in the event, keeping her semifinal chance radiant. On the other hand, the Heats of the men’s 100m backstroke event sent two American swimmers to the semifinal round.

So the American swimming heroes did not disappoint today in the pool. But the glitz from Bob the Cap Catcher today might keep the arena buzzing for a few more days, and swimmers could search for him if they lose any swimming gear in the pool.
