On Saturday, 29th July, Ledecky refined history after winning the 800-meter freestyle with a time set of 8:08:87 seconds. This made her become the first swimmer ever to win the same distance 6 times in World Championships. In the 2012 London Olympics, she began her legacy of 800-meter freestyle at 15 and won her first gold. According to the Los Angles Times, she resumed her legacy this time after cruising to the title leaving her competitors behind by establishing more than one notable record.
On Tuesday, the individual world title was tied between Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky after she won her 15th title in 1500m freestyle. But now, she broke the tie for most world titles with the completion of her 6th title in the 800m. Fans were eagerly waiting to see if she could break the record of the swimming legend himself, and Ledecky did not cease to amuse her fans. She made history by winning the 800m freestyle, making it her 16th world title, and breaking the tie for most individual world titles.

Katie Ledecky started the tournament with a silver but she quickly enhanced her performance setting multiple records. This 800m race became special to Ledecky and her fellow competitor who is also the fan favorite in the People?s Republic of China. Li Bingjie claimed a silver in the event with a time set of 8:13:31 setting a new Asian record in swimming for 800 meters freestyle. Earlier, the record was held by Wang Jianjiahe in women?s 800 meters at 8:14:64, but now Li broke the record at Fukuoka World Championships.?

According to the Olympics, Australian pro swimmer Ariarne Titmus won the bronze with 8:13:59 in 800m. The 26-year-old Olympian was consistent with her swimming career over the years and she always tried to do better. Now, she finally achieved one of her biggest dreams but hopefully, we can expect some more treats to come.
