Earlier, the record was held by Wang Jianjiahe in women?s 800 meters at 8:14:64, but now Li broke the record at Fukuoka World Championships.?

According to the Olympics, Australian pro swimmer Ariarne Titmus won the bronze with 8:13:59 in 800m.
