The second day of the Swimming World Cup 2023 Athens has officially ended. While there were a few changes to the podium finishes at Athens, the top three swimmers placed for one particular event remained unchanged. Last weekend in Berlin, Thomas Ceccon, Zac Incerti, and Dylan Carter secured first, second, and third place respectively in the men’s 100m freestyle event.
Fans were surprised to witness the same lineup once again as the top podium finishers at Athens. However, there was a little change to their final placements, which limited Dylan Carter to just a second-place finish.
Dylan Carter settles for silver at the Athens leg of the Swimming World Cup 2023

Dylan Carter has been featuring constantly in the men’s 100m freestyle discipline. Last week, the swimmer from Trinidad and Tobago was placed third in the final event when he stopped the clock in 48.73 seconds. This time around in Athens, the swimmer moved up one place to second and recorded a time of 48.62 seconds.
It was a close finish alongside Italy’s Thomas Ceccon, who clocked a time of 48.36 seconds and was even part of an amusing and confusing incident last week in Berlin. While according to the World Aquatics YouTube stream, Carter said, “Yeah maybe next week. Think we are all feeling it after racing last weekend and traveling to Athens, but so fun racing tonight.” While, only yesterday, the Trinidad and Tobago swimmer had also earned another podium finish at the Olympic Aquatic Center.

Dylan Carter earns a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle final
So far, in the Swimming World Cup 2023, Dylan Carter has a mixed bag of results. The talented swimmer is currently placed 11th in the men’s individual ranking with 70.6 points and also earned a prize money of US$4,600 during the Berlin leg of the competition. Yesterday, Carter finished third against the likes of Michael Andrew and Issac Cooper with a time of 22.16 seconds in the men’s 50m freestyle final event. Andrew clocked 21.96 seconds and took gold while Cooper secured the silver medal with his 22.07 seconds.

As for Dylan Carter, the swimmer still has another day of events in the Athens leg of the Swimming World Cup 2023. While he will be looking to improve his individual ranking in Athens, Carter will also get the opportunity to clock faster times next week when the competition shifts to its final Budapest leg.
