In a series of incidents, swimmer Felix Auboeck had found himself on the same pedestal as Olympic swimming champion Maggie MacNeil in the wake of the Tokyo Olympics. Both the swimmers had their swimming classes fixed at the University of Michigan. With sailing on the prospects, the senior and sophomore pair had received the institute’s 2019-2020 Athletes of the Year title. However, that was the end of the duo shared the match. 

The Tokyo Olympic swimming results were different for Felix Auboeck compared to the Canadian sensation. Now, the TYR Pro Series 2024 has witnessed the spree of differences all along. But this time the Austrian swimmer is on the victorious side till now. 

Another successful day in the pool for Felix Auboeck

On day 3 of TYR Pro Swim Series 2024, the second event for 200 LC m free in the men’s category, spectators saw Felix Auboeck continuing his winning spree. After wrecking timings of 400m free, he created mastery in the men’s 200m freestyle event. However, the final timings took a better view. And the ultimate list came in the X-post of SwimSwam Live. It read, “Knoxville Men’s 200 Freestyle Podium: Felix Auboeck (AUT) — 1:46.70 Grant House (SUN) — 1:47.58 Kieran Smith (RAC) — 1:47.60”

It was the double gold occasion for the Austrian swimmer who had a thorough result of shifting his coaching camp to Arizona after spending a sizeable chunk in Loughborough. Nevertheless, the 200m free event could be an avoirdupois occasion. However, due to the competitive prelims in the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, names like Jack Alexy and Trenton Julian received eliminations from the final list. But from that crowd, Felix Auboeck continued his gilded run. So did Kieran Smith this time.

Kieran Smith registers a magnificent rise

In the 400m free in Knoxville this year, Felix Auboeck earned the top position with Olympic medalist Kieran Smith adjusting in the third position. However, this time in the 200m free, the same happened again. But it only signified Smith’s better performance from the incipient prelim. On the prelims events of day 3 of TYR Pro Series 2024, the 23-year-old swimmer touched the yellow line after ASU Sun Devils’ Grant House. Smith’s ultimate rank was 7th before participating in the last run. And in the pool, he was almost there to surpass Grant House to put out a better competition to Felix Auboeck.

However, that ended on a friendly note for the Austrian-American swimming pair that started from the Tokyo Olympics contention. Now, in the coming days, swimming fans would expect the same camaraderie in the pool.
