Drowning is the most probable danger in swimming and it is something that can happen at any moment. According to the World Health Organization, drowning is one of the third leading causes of unintentional injuries and deaths. It is an unprecedented outcome that sometimes can conclude with tragic mishaps.?
Certainly, there are numerous rivers, pools, seas, ponds, and reservoirs in the US, and some of them are very frequent in drowning cases. The Middletown city in Connecticut is known for its unique art and culture, but the city has also reported several drowning cases. Recently, one more case has added to the number when a man went missing while swimming in the Middletown Swimming Reservoir, and his body is finally recovered.??

There is a county park that leads to the Swimming River Reservoir and before entering the water, it attaches itself to a long border of Newman Springs Road in the township and Brookdale Community College. On 29th July, the 24-year-old victim, identified as Jose M. Urbina Contreras, was hiking on the trail and stopped for a trying his luck at swimming in the reservoir when this accident took place. He suddenly disappeared from vision while swimming and went missing on Saturday around 6:30 pm.
According to the Middletown Police, they received a call shortly after the accident and rushed to the scene with a search team. The tragedy was informed to be searched in Thompson Park, 805 Newman Springs Road for a missing swimmer. According to Tap into Middletown, the officials reported that it was the same time when a thunderstorm began in the area. A potential search team was instantly sent to the scene and after long, constant hours of searching, the case came to a tragic end.?

The potential search for the missing swimmer came to a tragic end
On 30th July, the body was recovered from 20 feet below the surface and 50 feet from the reservoir?s edge. According to the Tap into Middletown, the body of Jose M. Urbina was found by the Monmouth County Sheriff?s Office Maritime Emergency Response Team. According to the Middletown Police Department, the team first located the group that made the call, then they were able to find the entry point in the reservoir which was located along the park. Shaun Golden, a sheriff in Monmouth County, expressed his grief and stated, ?We are deeply saddened over the tragic loss of this swimmer and thoughts remain with his family.?

The search team in Middletown included Middletown?s fire department, police departments, EMS, and OEM from Middletown, and from Monmouth County, a police department, Campus Protection Unit, Drone unit, MERT and OEM, Monmouth Park system, Holmdel OEM, Drone Unit, New Jersey State Police and Aviation and the Colts Neck Police department provided tier assistance. The Monmouth Sheriff County said, ?While the outcome is not what we had hoped for, the brave rescue efforts of all involved in their attempts to rescue and then recover the victim is commended.” The Middletown Police thanked all the agencies and locals to provide their assistance in the tragic swimming case to locate the body.
