The FINA World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2023 will take place from October 6th to October 22nd. There is a cloud of disappointment hanging over USA Swimming a mere 2 days before the World Cup kick-off in Berlin.
The national governing body released a dismal budget report, sending shockwaves of concern throughout the US swimming community. The revenue figures have not met expectations thus casting doubts over the team’s preparation plans for the impending competition.

US Swimming had its eyes on generating more than $4.8 million from corporate sponsorship revenue based on its 2022 budget. However, that figure crashed by $1.2 million, resulting in one of the worst figures of all time at $ 3.6 million. Last year, two key sponsors withdrew their support for the national governing body resulting in only 75 percent of the anticipated revenue from corporate sponsorship.
While USA Swimming refrains from exposing which brands pulled out, it portrays a hopeful attitude towards potential Olympic-year partnerships. “We are certainly excited by numerous prospects interested in Olympic-year partnerships,” a USA Swimming spokesperson told SWIM SWAM in a recent interview.
For instance, several companies vanished from USA Swimming’s partner record between January 2022 and February 2023, including Marriott, Goldеn Road Brеwing, Bic, Myrtha Pools, Xfinity, and Frito Lay. Such a decline in corporate support follows a budget deficit experienced in corporate sponsorship revenues for the post-Olympic Year 2017, but not as severe.
