While it is no secret that Katie Ledecky is the unbridled champion of swimming, her achievements go beyond the pool. The Stanford alumni conquered the best of both worlds by acing both athletics and academics. While she still rules the pool, the star swimmer decided to give back to academics by going back to school.

It turns out that the swimmer is a STEM enthusiast. However, she took her passion to the ground this time. The legendary swimmer donned a lab coat and safety goggles and visited a local school to solve some fun and engaging scientific mysteries along with high school students.

Katie Ledecky takes her love for STEM to a school

Although her focus lies in athletics, Katie Ledecky knew the importance of maths and science to lead a better future. The champion grew so passionate about the subjects that she decided to take it a notch high. Teaming up with Panasonic, the star swimmer participated in STEM Forward to bridge the gap between maths, science, and swimming.

Ledecky visited Eliot-Hine Middle School to ponder on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In a brief presentation, the swimmer talked about how she realized the connection between swimming and STEM. The star also posted some pictures from her trip and further stressed that “science and swimming go hand in hand!“.

From measuring her strokes to calculating water pressure, science and maths are integral parts of swimming. The swimmer was spotted having fun at the school lab, holding a bunch of chemicals. She also interacted with the students and shared her experience as an Olympian.

Ledecky’s educational background

While Ledecky has been a swimmer since a young age, she also has a proficient educational background. Apart from her deep interest in STEM studies, the swimmer graduated from Stanford University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Political Science.

Working on her degree while being at the peak of her career, Ledecky has set a great example among young athletes. This combined with her passion for STEM would help aspiring students to equally prioritize studies and sports.
