Ahead of the Olympics, Australia announces Doha roster

Swimming Australia has revealed a slimmer roster of 24 swimmers for the Doha World Aquatics Championships, opting for a more selective approach in the run-up to the Paris Olympics. A tweet by @WorldAquatics captioned, “ #swimming team is here! The line-ups are getting ready for the @AquaDoha24!,” revealed the 18 formidable phenoms participating in the pool during the February 11-18 event in Doha, due to their emphasis on the Paris Games. 7 men and 11 women make for a perfect bifurcation and division of prowess.

Among the notable absences are world champions Kyle Chalmers and Sam Short, Olympic winner Ariarne Titmus, and 200m freestyle world record holder Mollie O’Callaghan. Sprinters Cameron McEvoy and Elijah Winnington are expected to spearhead the effort, with the goal of defending titles and reclaiming lost glory.
Meanwhile, open water swimmer Chelsea Gubecka, who has already qualified for the Olympics, will make an Australian record by competing in her seventh world championships, giving depth to the Australian contingent. On the opposite end of the pool, USA Swimming also announced it’s 18-athlete lineup for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.
American swimmers’ messianic contingent unfurled
The American squad consists of five women and thirteen men, shows a modified selection criteria for the World Championship event. The 2023-2024 NCAA top swimmers in the roster include Texans- Jack Aikins and Luke Hobson.

The roster is composed of both veteran players and rising stars, with Carson Foster and Jake Foster providing both established success and fresh talent.
