But it’s not just the young Prince that the swimming GOAT relates to. He showed great compassion for Prince Harry and his wife Megan when they chose to lead a non-royal lifestyle.

Phelps’ hand of support

In a special conversation, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened up on their challenges of royals at the Oprah Winfrey show. Following this, the swimming legend extended his hand of support for the young royal couple. Empathizing with the couple, Phelps said, I do feel for them.”

Having seen tough times, Phelps has always advocated the importance of mental health. When Harry and Megan spoke about their struggles, Phelps could feel for them. He said, “I know what that feels like, and it does break my heart.”

Having battled suicidal and depressing thoughts, Phelps could co-relate with the Royal pair. Speaking up, he said, “the biggest thing is to try to be your authentic self.” He further added, “struggle is something that is more powerful that we can ever understand,”
