The world of swimming and aquatic sports saw a massive showdown in Doha recently at the 21st edition of the World Aquatics Championships. Among them was a 32-year-old diving star from Shoreline, Washington, who aimed to clinch the world title ahead of the Paris Olympics. Despite her efforts, she didn’t advance past the preliminary round at the women’s 10-meter platform and didn’t qualify for the final round of competition.

Nevertheless, this setback does not mark the end for the multi-talented icon, who is also a gifted musician and has proudly represented America at both the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Now, she sets her sights on vying for a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Shoreline’s own Katrina Young is on a mission to secure a coveted spot on the US Olympic diving team for the Paris Olympics. Despite not having her best performance at the recent diving world championships in Doha, Katrina remains determined to pursue her Olympic dreams. Having already won a silver at the world championships in 2022 and competed in both the Rio and Tokyo Olympics, Katrina is recognized as one of the top divers in the country. However, her focus is now squarely on Paris 2024.

She shared with KING 5 News, “I think I have unfinished business really. I believe that I can be on the podium at the Olympics.” Despite struggling with pressure in past Olympic events, she is now determined to prove to herself that she can perform at her best on the biggest stage. Katrina Young has been training hard since the Tokyo Games. After getting married, she moved to southern California to train at USC, a top-notch diving program. She believes that balance is key and has been finding harmony in both her diving career and personal life. Katrina’s always been passionate about diving, and now she’s setting her sights on synchronized diving, which is even more challenging than diving solo. Young knows it won’t be easy.

Every competition is a big challenge, and she’s prepared to give it her all. Katrina Young believes that the Paris Olympics will be something special for her. She shared, ” I feel like it’s an honor every time I’m on the stage diving for the US.” With the diving events set to take place from July 27th to August 10th at the Paris Aquatics Centre, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing the unfolding journey of the talented Katrina Young as she aims to secure her spot at the games.
