It was not an easy upbringing for the swimming GOAT Michael Phelps. In 1994 when he was only nine years old, his parents divorced. Growing up with his mother, the young boy faced difficulty opening up to his father. As a result, he had a tumultuous connection with his father.

Taking to Instagram, Phelps’ elder sister Hilary shared a heartfelt tribute to her father.

Michael’s sister showered love for her late father

Times are difficult for?Michael?Phelps and his family. Mr. Fred Phelps, the father of the swimming legend, has left for his heavenly abode. As the news settles in for the Phelps family, fans stumble upon Hilary’s Instagram post. The eldest of the Phelps siblings shared a picture of her and her late-father earlier on Monday.

Hilary shared the heartbreaking news with her followers. She?wrote,?”it’s with deep sadness and a heavy heart to share that my dad passed unexpectedly yesterday. This is our last photo together.”?In an emotional post, she also wrote,?“my dad was my first love.”?Addressing him as her?“#1 fan,”?the yoga expert wrote,?“Outside of Alexander, he was my everything.”

In the said post, she also had a valuable piece of advice for her social media family. Ending the post with advice to her followers, the ex-swimmer wrote,?“please love your loved ones a little harder today. Hug them a little tighter. Tomorrow is never guaranteed.”

Michael Phelps remembered his late father in an emotional post

Michael may not have had the ideal father-son relationship, but his love for his father was unquestionable. Even Fred closely watched his son’s progress at the pool. He always supported him and cheered for him. Even though Fred wasn’t present for his son’s achievements, he had always kept a close eye on his swimming performances throughout his career.

He, too, took to his Twitter to share his love for his late father. Phelps wrote, “You’ll always be my dad? And I’ll always be your son? Love you, dad, and I will miss you. RIP, dad.”

On numerous occasions, Michael Phelps discussed his relationship with his father. The loss is beyond expression; as the Phelps family mourns through the loss, well-wishers and fans extend their support and prayers.
