After giving an obvious day of swimming fisticuffs on day 1, TYR Pro Series 2024 faced a blow at the end part of the timeline. Swimmer Caeleb Dressel scratched out from the day 2 event, only sending disbelief to the swimming community. The same happened with Olympic medalist Chase Kalisz. The Michael Phelps‘ tutee gave up on the 200m fly event in the men’s category.
That deeply blurred the day 2 roster’s popularity in the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. Still, there was hope for the ultimate 100 LC m breaststroke event in the men’s category. The reason was too vivid in the place.

The 100 LC m breaststroke event in the TYR Pro Swim Series 2024 earned the full-fledged title of battle of Olympians. In the women’s event, Lilly King and Lydia Jacoby were scheduled to compete against each other.
In the men’s event, the turn went to spearheads like Nic Fink, Cody Miller, and Michael Andrew. All the swimmers registered themselves into the sub-1 category. With Nic Fink’s top American recorded timing in the book, the competing bunch became more interesting with the entry of Jake Foster.
So, the podium list garnered an unquestionable interest. Eventually, when the mystery reached higher, USA Swimming News updated with the X-post, giving in, “FINAL: 1. Nic Fink, 1:00.36 2. Michael Andrew, 1:00.41 3. Joshua Chen, 1:00.67”

After coming out of the pool, Nic Fink rattled his side of the journey till now, explaining a bit to the interviewer. Moreover, the swimmer was ecstatic about having his coach on the fence line on Day 2. So, when the interviewer asked him about his competing experience with Michael Andrew, the 30-year-old swimmer showed his nonchalance in the competition but more on the journey.
The engineer-turned-swimmer added, “I wasn’t paying attention at all, my coach was watching- I was controlling my own race. Definitely aware of where people are in the race and I think knowing that he was there, but not overextending to catch him too early, and I was able to get my hand on the wall first.” That was the Nic Fink for the day.

The return of an old rivalry
The TYR Pro Series 2024 set the platform for a repeat happening that took place last year in the US Nationals. That day Nic Fink cornered Michael Andrew vehemently to enter the sub-1 category. For the latter, it was a dismal show, with a soul-wrenching 17th-place finish in the prelims.

Moreover, on the 50m fly, Andrew regarded some fine performances in national and international titles. That journey might have been fulfilled this time with gaping only 0.05 seconds from the 100m fly spearhead. Now it’s time for an overturn.
