Earlier this month, Michigan football coach, Jim Harbaugh, declared that Michael Phelps will be seen as the honorary captain of the Michigan football team. The upcoming game had to be played against Penn State on Saturday. However, the next game with Michigan State ended on a highly controversial note, when two of the Michigan players were assaulted post-match.
Michael Phelps’ team under controversy
After Michael Phelps was announced as the honorary captain of the Michigan football team. The practice and later, the interaction over zoom call went well. Phelps inspired the young players with the interaction between them. Everything till the match went pretty well. They even won the match against Michigan State by 29-7. However, things didn’t end up on the same note.

The ending didn’t go as expected for the players and team management. Things got out of hand when the MSU players surrounded a Michigan defensive back, Ja’Den McBurrows. However, the videos that got posted on social media showed how the player was reportedly assaulted by the group of MSU players.
The Michigan head coach, Jim Harbaugh said, “Two of our players were assaulted.” The scenes that came out were pretty ugly for any fan. Moreover, the assaults were pretty serious and according to sources, the news of a nasal injury to one player has also come out.
Phelps’ old connection with the University of Michigan
Michael Phelps had been associated with the University of Michigan since his young days. It started back in 2004. He was only about to start the golden days of his career. Phelps’ association with the University of Michigan had given them great exposure. Even now, getting advice from the G.O.A.T. himself was a big opportunity for young players.
