Resurfaced Image Shows 6’11 Kevin Durant Towering Over Swimming Legend Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps has become a symbol of consistency thanks to his incredible career. With 28 Olympic medals to his name, it’s safe to say he is a hoarder of medals. People remained in awe every time he ascended to the podium to receive his medal. Also, his height was another reason to watch him. The 6 feet 4-inch swimming GOAT, however, once appeared shorter.

Kevin Durant, the leading scorer in the history of the USA’s basketball team, once met Phelps. Their picture together left everyone thinking about their heights.

When Phelps met Kevin

August 10th, 2016, is the day that made Phelps the most accomplished swimmer on the planet. His achievements were already a hard-to-break, and his comeback in the Rio Olympics set the bar way higher and nearly impassable as he bagged another six medals. It was a moment of pride and an overwhelming feeling for the entire sports community to witness such a feat, including the basketball champion, Kevin Durant.

In the stands was Kevin, an ardent fan of Phelps, cheering and celebrating the swimming maestro’s victory. He was seen with his phone covering those moments excitedly as any die-hard fan would do. Later, he met Phelps and clicked a picture that went viral on social media. Strangely, the swimming giant for once looked short.

It’s not surprising that anyone who consistently wins in his respective sport is compared with Phelps. Coincidentally, three-time Olympic gold medalist Durant was compared with Phelps for his resounding success with Team USA.  

Michael Phelps is a towering personality

Besides his height in the literal sense, Phelps carries a great personality. With a noble motive of encouraging young swimmers and supporting the growth of the sport, he has put a lot of effort and conviction into designing programs through his foundation. The Phelps foundation provides financial support for training, staffing, pool access, equipment, and other support materials.

Without access to good water, what are swimmers supposed to do? He was aware of how crucial water safety and conservation are. To raise awareness of the value of water conservation and encourage behavioral changes, he offered his support to Colgate’s Save Water campaign as its ambassador.
