Phelps recently took to his Instagram story and wrote, “Rainy Day Fun” alongside a small clip of him and his family having fun on a boat in the water. From struggling mentally to enjoying every moment of his life with his family, it has been a long and upwards journey for Michael Phelps.

It was in 2017, when Michael Phelps, then already retired, addressed the public and shared his struggles with mental health for many years before that. As a champion athlete, he braved it all and kept on forging gold medal-winning performances without any complaints. While everything seemed perfectly normal on the surface, especially for an athlete who was at the top of the world, Phelps was in pain internally. When he did finally open up, he was met with overwhelming support from his fans.
