Among all this is a swimmer who dominated men’s swimming heats today, the Lithuanian prodigy, Danas Rapsys. Not only did Rapsys win his race, but he also left one of his closest American swimming rivals behind to win the heat. According to the live coverage provided by FINA on YouTube, the world has its eyes set on the heats, particularly the men’s 400-meter freestyle. It was the rivalry between Danas Rapsys and America’s Kieran Smith that was highly anticipated in the 400-meter freestyle during heat number 3 of day 1. The Lithuanian phenom in lane 5 was able to claim the numero uno spot with a 3:50.4 finish.
He was followed closely by Smith in lane 4, who secured second place after clocking 3:51.53 seconds. Zalan Sarkany of Hungary was placed third with 3:51.57 seconds on the clock.
