Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson’s 7-Months-Old Son Was Assigned Most Important Responsibility at His Parent’s Wedding

Michael Phelps, the GOAT of swimming, enjoys a massive fan-following worldwide. With 23 gold medals, Phelps is the most decorated athlete of all time. The feats he has achieved in his more than a decade-long swimming career remain unachievable by many. A true inspiration and living legend, Phelps’ swimming career is exceptional.

Taking everyone by surprise, Phelps announced his secret wedding with Nicole on June 13, 2013. Also, it was not just one secret wedding but two! The second was even more special for Mr. and Mrs. Phelps for an adorable reason.

Phelps’ little one, taking up responsibilities

The couple confessed their love for one another in another official ceremony on October 29,  2013, in Mexico. Four months after the first intimate wedding that Nichole refers to as “got married in sweats and jams,” the couple said I do in front of family and friends.

Revealing intimate details about their big day, Phelps said that his seven-month-old son Boomer played a vital role. Pepping in, the proud mother said the wedding ring was hung “around his wrist, and he was carried down the aisle by [eight-time Olympic medalist swimmer] Allison [Schmitt], our roommate.”

Unable to wrap everything around his head, the groom could not help but blurt out, ‘Wow, now this is really happening.’ The emotions could be felt when Phelps lovingly said, “everything we’ve been through, we’re finally at that point where we can make promises to each other.”

Michael Phelps’s parents divorced when he was young. That did impact his close bond with his father. Senior Phelps was on and off present for his son. But in one incident, his father, Fred Phelps, took matters into his own hands when he saw his baby boy succumbing to ill health.

Prioritizing his son’s health over anything, the desperate father” flashed his lights and blared his siren” and took Phelps to the hospital right on time. Recalling the incident, Phelps could not help but comment, “The stopwatch was important in my life even then.”
