After facing defeat by Nic Fink in the 100m breaststroke on day 2 of the TYR Pro Swim Series 2024 in Knoxville, Michael Andrew clinched gold on day 4 of the series. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist shined brightly on the final day of the competition as he stood atop the podium for the 50m freestyle bracket. While Andrew cruised to touch the wall, he powered to triumph by clocking a time of 21.87.

Michael Andrew bested two of his counterparts who ended up with the same timing. Jordan Crooks and Santo Condorelli ended up in the second position with a tie.

Michael Andrew takes the lead on the final day of the TYR Pro Swim Series

The starting days of the TYR Pro Swim Series did not seem to turn out as expected for the Olympic star Michael Andrew. It seemed like Andrew’s dominance is fading at the TYR Pro Swim Series after a terrific history of wins in this event. However, this thought was only alive until the subjugation of Andrew came out shining on the final day of the competition. He ended his streak of two losses by Nic Fink and Shaine Casas and succeeded in standing atop the podium in the 50m freestyle bracket. 

He rushed towards the victory line after jumping in the Tennessee waters clocking a time of 21.87. Trying to cope with Andrew’s speed, Jordan Crooks and Santo Condorelli both secured second place with the timeframe of 22.06. This was a race worth watching and all the Michael Andrew fans jumped up in happiness after this win. 

This season of the TYR Pro Swim Series was a balanced one for Michael Andrew. He had a ravishing experience in the 2020,2021, and 2022 iterations of the event. In 2023 he faced his first defeat in this competition by Nic Fink and it continued to this year as well as he was trounced by Fink in the men’s 100m breaststroke. 

The rivalry between two American counterparts 

Nic Fink and Michael Andrew had a faceoff on Day 2 of the event in the 100m breaststroke. Both the staunch swimmers lined up to nab the win, but Nic Fink powered through towards the yellow line first. One of the most anticipated matches came to an end as Fink clocked a time of 1:00.36 and Michael Andrew ended up securing the second position with just a mere difference of timing. He clocked a time of 1:00.41.

He also faced a defeat against Shaine Casas in the 100m butterfly event where he scored a time of 51.40 trouncing Andrew. Both these athletes share a history in the 2023 season of the TYR series.

A similar situation took place here as Casas stood atop the podium besting Michael Andrew. However, Andrew snatched back his dominance of the TYR Pro Series and ended the 2024 iteration on a good note.
