The city of New York will witness an incredible display of philanthropy and determination on July 6. Christopher Harris, the global head of aerospace, defense, and government services at UBS, has announced that he is set to embark on the challenge of a lifetime.

On July 6, Harris will take part in the Manhattan Marathon Swim for charity and help three charities in the process – Worldwide Orphan Foundation, + Pool, and Have Faith Haiti. The marathon includes a complete round of Manhattan Island, which makes the event quite challenging. Interestingly, though the open-water swim poses high levels of difficulties, Christopher is equally adamant about raising money for charities.

Christopher Harris will not be alone in this noble cause. He will be joined by former Olympian Anthony Ervin, Jamie Monahan, who has three Guinness World Records to his name, and Fleur Sohtz, a charity board member. Back in the 1990s, Harris used to swim for Columbia University. In a press release, Harris said, “With this swim, I aim to spotlight these organizations’ causes and honor my family’s connection to Haiti and my adopted home, New York.” Throughout his life, Harris has actively used sports as a platform to bring about social change.

With the help of this marathon, Harris aims to bring about a positive change for those who need it most. Former Olympian Anthony Ervin said, “I am excited to collaborate with Chris and use our athletic platform for good, raising awareness about clean water access, orphan care, and youth development through this monumental swim.”  “I am excited to collaborate with Chris and use our athletic platform for good, raising awareness about clean water access, orphan care, and youth development through this monumental swim,” Ervin believes that united efforts like these will also help in encouraging others to come together and support in fighting for things that matters the most to them. Giving back to charities close to you is a step forward in making a positive change and helping others.

All three charities are quite close to Christopher Harris. The Have Faith Tahiti is not only a way to pay homage to his mother, but the charity also works towards the nourishment and education of children in Tahiti. + Pool helps in providing more opportunities for open water swimming to the people of New York. The Worldwide Orphans Foundation works across four continents and provides several play-based programs to vulnerable groups of people.
