Phelps shares a long history with the school. After the 2004 Olympics, he moved to Ann Arbor when Bob Bowman, his coach, became the head coach at the University of Michigan. Although Phelps couldn?t swim for the university as he had accepted endorsement money from Speedo, Visa, etc, he served as an assistant coach. Fair to say, while Phelps felt nostalgic touring around the campus, the students and others who watched him on tv couldn?t help but look at him with awe.
In his recent Instagram story, he shared a picture of his kids virtually present at the stadium as they excitedly rooted for their dad.
Michael Phelps is a proud father
The 28-time Olympic medalist retired after the 2016 Rio Olympics. A parent of three sons- Boomer, Beckett, and Maverick, Phelps is enjoying and embracing fatherhood and parenting. Among the many pictures shared in an Instagram post, a particular picture caught Phelps? attention.

The photograph features his three sons appearing to have a fun, playtime at home. The youngest is seen pointing at the t.v. showing the other two of their daddy occupying the entire screen creating a ?Hey! Look, daddy is on the t.v.? moment. Phelps shared it on his Instagram story with the caption, ?Love it!!? followed by two hearts.
If there?s anything the 23-time Olympic gold medalist is more proud of than his magnificent achievements in the pool, it is being a dad. In an interview, he asked, ?Why do people still only see me as a swimmer?? He continued proudly that he looks at himself as a dad of three, a husband, and someone who was trying to do whatever he could to prevent as many suicides and create awareness about mental health.
