American swimming icon Kate Douglass concluded her 2023 season on a great note. After making a new meet record in the 200m IM discipline on day 2 of the 2023 US Open Swimming Championships, Douglass clinched victory in the 200m breaststroke on day 4 of the event.
Douglass showcased her magic in the 200m Breaststroke stunning all the spectators. Interestingly, she once again surpassed the initial meet record in the 200m breaststroke and created a new one.

As the US Open swimming championships advanced, Kate Douglass continued her winning spree. Even on day 4, she ruled like a pro in the 200m breaststroke. She cruised to nab the title and leave behind some of the ideal swimmers.

The SwimSwam took to their X account and shared the scores. Douglass ruling this event clinched gold by clocking a time of 2:21.87. In the second position was Lilly King with a score of 2:23.98, and Kotryna Teterekova was in the third position with a timeframe of 2:24.22.
This was one of the tight races to witness in the US Open meet. Initially, in the race, the lead was in Lilly King’s favor. However, Douglass with her stellar skills cruised to the finish line first two seconds before King’s timeframe making her second. This was the exact situation when they faced each other in the 2023 World Championships where Douglass ended up with a silver by clocking a score of 2:21.23 and King scored just two seconds more than Kate with a 2:22.25 and was placed fourth.
It was an incredible performance by Kate as it was the fourth-fastest performance ever for the 22-year-old. After looking back at Kate;s performance at this season’s Open Meet, it is safe to say that she gracefully ruled in the areas she has expertise in. From clinching consecutive golds to the final win of the season, she made sure to make her space in this competition.

Kate Douglass’ performance in the 2023 US Open Meet
The American prodigy proved her prowess in every step as the US Open meet advanced. From backstroke to butterfly, she stood out in each of them. Before the final day win in the 200m Breaststroke, she also won consecutive golds in the 200m IM and in the 50m Freestyle. In the Individual Medley, the prodigy rushed to the finish line and nabbed the win in a time of 2:08.46 leaving Alex Walsh behind in the second position. With this win, she also set a new championship record in the event.

Just 24 minutes later of winning the gold in 200 IM, she nabbed another gold in the women’s 50m Freestyle. Here she left Torri Huske and Abbey Weitzeil in a tie by winning the title in a timeframe of 24.38. With this win, she again set a new championship record in the event. It has been a treat to witness Douglass’ extraordinary performance at the 2023 US Open meet.
