The 2023 US Open Swimming Championship Day 2 has commenced and is raging in full force. As the event advanced, swimming icon, Kate Douglass captivated the attention of everyone with her commendable performance in the 200IM.

She has gracefully clinched the gold in the 200IM event and met a new meet record by leaving her counterparts in her wake. The swimming enthusiasts cannot stop cheering for the phenom. After getting listed in the Forbes Under 30, she has successfully made her space in the US Open meet as well.

One of the most beautiful performances that amassed the attention of the audience was of the versatile swimmer Katie Douglass. She made sure to prove her prowess with her stellar skills as she cruised to the 200 IM title against the ideal swimmers Alex Walsh and Torri Huske.

Kyle Sockwell took to their X account and posted the scores. The caption carried, Kate Douglass just took down a LOADED field in the 200 IM at US Open with a new US Open Meet Record time of 2:08.46″. Kate nabbed the win in a time of 2:08.46. Walsh was in the second position with 2:08.96 and Torri Huske with 2:09.10 in the third position.

This is a commendable win for Douglass and she is more than elated. She expressed, “I’m super happy with that time right now”. She further added, “This meet is kind of just about getting race practice, so coming out on top in that event is awesome”. Kate Douglass with this win also surpassed the 2022 US Open Swimming Championship’s 200 IM win.

The 2022 US Open Swimming 200 IM win

The swimming community saw great performances in the 2022 US Open meet, however, some of the 2023’s performances have surpassed them. Last year’s women’s 200 IM winner was Regan Smith with a timeframe of 2:10.40. In the second position was Leah Hayes, with a time of 2:10.67 and in the third position was Zoe Dixon with a time of 2:14.37.

Douglass gracefully surpassed Smith’s record with her time of 2:08.46. She has received a new career high with this meet record. After starring in the Forbes 30 Under 30, getting this win is a consecutive grand accomplishment for Douglass. The swimming enthusiasts couldn’t be more excited to witness the upcoming magical performances of Kate Douglass and the other performances at the US Open Swimming 2023.
