The 2024 Summer Olympics are now 7 months away and all the athletes have rolled their sleeves. Along similar lines, Australian swimming prodigy Ariarne Titmus is all girded up to board the train to Paris. After having a roller-coaster ride of the 2023 season, the 2x Olympic champion in the women’s 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle is ready to defend her title in the French capital.

I probably think I’m actually in a better position now than what I thought I would be,” said Titmus, following her ovarian surgery back in September 2023. Though she faced an uphill battle with her persistent health issues, the Australian made sure to come back with an optimistic outlook. And now, as she looks forward to a better and faster recovery, Titmus sets her sights on the Paris dream. Hence, to share the various nooks and crannies of her journey ahead, Titmus shared her unfeigned perspective.

Ariarne Titmus opens up about her feelings for the Paris Olympics

The Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus is one of the most decorated Australian swimmers. She has proved her worth time and again with her stellar performances no matter how tough the circumstances are. Even after facing a health scare of two benign tumors and an ovarian surgery in the wake of that, she is all set to grace her presence at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Interestingly, as she prepares for the upcoming games, she shared various avenues of her training in a telephonic interview with The Jimmy and Nath show.

They shared a clip from the interview on their Instagram account with the caption, “Ariarne Titmus joins the show to chat about getting ready for the 2024 Paris Olympics!” When asked about her preparation for the event, Titmus showcased extreme excitement and replied, “I’m actually getting really excited now like coming into the new year 2024 Olympic year”. She further added, “Definitely a bit of a roller coaster prep this one but I definitely feel like a lot more like myself and back on track”. 

It is going to be a grand affair for Titmus, as she will be entering the Olympics as a defending champion of the 200m and 400m freestyle.

The Australian swimmer reveals more about her mindset for 2024

When asked about whether it’s easy or harder to perform at the Olympics again. She expressed, “It’s probably like both ways”. She added, “It’s easier and I know the work it takes to get to the level I was, but I think it’s also harder because I’m not naive to the pressure”. Titmus also highlighted the fact that she has a lot more pressure this year as she is going in as a defending champion.

Ariarne Titmus revealed that it has been a different preparation for this one. With the amalgamation of both extreme pressure and excitement, she is feeling a lot of things. The Australian phenom is also excited about witnessing the huge crowd this year as in Tokyo, the situations were restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “My friends and family are coming over. So no pressure.” stated the Australian swimmer. With this, the 2x Olympian champion is looking forward to add another accolade to her already impressive resume, as she prepares for the 2024 Olympic games.
