The stories that come out of Michael Phelps’ camp are extraordinary. His tales of dominance inside the swimming pool sets him apart from the rest. He is one of the finest swimmers of all time and showcased some of the finest swims in history. At the 2004 Athens Olympics, he was 19 years old. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, when he was 31, he had created history.

However, there were remarks from an NBC commentator stating how he struggled to get out of the pool. The commentaries happened after he won his 22nd gold medal as Phelps struggled to get out of the pool. Fans reacted to those claims stating they should have focused on his victory.
Fans react to the old age remark!
Soon after his 200-meter individual medley win, Phelps headed to the warm-up pool to prepare for the 100-meter butterfly semi-finals. Slowly and steadily, he finished his warm-up and climbed up the ladder only to hear the claims by the NBC commentators about how his age was catching up. It pissed people, and fans took to Twitter to express their concerns.

Remarkably, this was not the first time this transpired. NBC commentators made comments at Phelps’ expense after his teammates pulled him out of the swimming pool, right after winning a gold medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Despite that being the final Olympics of his career, the commentators seemed to be more focused on his age.
Nevertheless, for a person his age, to do what he does inside the pool is an amazing feat. The level of commitment showcased by him inside the swimming pool is extraordinary.

After he retired from swimming after the 2012 London Olympics, Phelps returned to make a mark. He aimed to establish himself as the GOAT swimmer, and the 2016 Rio Olympics proved legendary. He won five gold medals in his last Olympics.
Moreover, he won his fourth consecutive gold medal in the 200m individual event and etched his name into the history books. It is not a straightforward task for swimmers to perform at 30.
