Swimming has been a captivating summer sport for decades. The beaches garner a hoard of swimmers during the heat; however, some of these places are not safe for people to swim and have been banned from the public. One such place is El Tancón Cave, which has been off-limits due to the several fatalities that have taken place in this region. But ignoring the amount of danger this place holds, a Spanish social media influencer was recently seen taking a dip in the cove.

The New York Post reported the incident on their Twitter handle with the caption, “Social media star shamed for swimming in deadly cove: ‘Influencers will end up going extinct.”

The Spanish influencer is known for sharing insights from her adventures in picturesque destinations on Instagram and other social media platforms. Recent photos uploaded by Saldana show her taking a dip in the infamous waters of El Tancón cave in Santiago del Teide, Tenerife, situated in the Canary Islands.

While the place looks surreal in the images, it also holds a dark swimming past. The place is infamous for its “bufadero,” which is a chimney-like structure with zero predictability about the nature of currents. This unpredictable nature of currents makes it difficult for the rescue team to reach.

According to the data, six people have lost their lives in the same cove. Ignoring these hazards hasn’t gone too well for Marina, and she was called out by the online community on her social media handle.
