Duncan Scott stormed through the Paris Olympics 2024 which could intimidate the most seasoned players! He won a Gold in 4x200m freestyle and a silver in the 200m individual medley, at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Any guesses on who won the Gold in the individual medley? It was the legendary Leon Marchand. But despite the close finish, Marchand edged Duncan out, pushing him off the golden podium.
But this setback has now set the stage and built the thrill for the showdown set to happen at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics! Adding further fuel to Duncan’s burning desire to win, Marchand took home Gold in the 400 m medley and 200m butterfly as well. But Duncan has no intention of going quietly into the night. He is already plotting his comeback. Duncan Scott is no ordinary swimmer! He is a man on a mission.

The deadline for this mission? Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The margin between Scoot and Marchand was just 0.98 seconds. And to add another layer of thrill, a mere 0.06 seconds standing between Leon and Ryan Lochte’s world record. This means that Duncan has his task pretty much tailor-made for him! “I’m swimming almost better than ever. It was 11 events in eight days. I swam for eight of the nine days. I finished the week and felt it was a great week of swimming for me, being able to anchor some great relays and swim individually pretty well too. I’m really pleased with how it went, but I still have a lot of things left to do in the sport,” he remarked confidently reflecting on his Paris performance.
But that’s not the only thing making this saga more riveting! Both Marchand trains under the coaching legend, Bob Bowman. Bowman is a man with many golden feathers in his ever-so-glorious coaching crown. He is the man who trained the swimming legend Michael Phelps into the Olympic titan he is. The Marchand-Bowman duo won Marchan his Gold at the Paris Olympics. But, it is important to remember that Scott wasn’t that far behind! Duncan also went on to add, “I’m not focusing on the result but on the work that needs to be done to achieve it.” But that’s not all Duncan is trying to beat! Duncan aims to increase his current stack of eight Olympic medals to overtake Scotland’s most-decorated Olympian Chris Hoy and tying with Bradley Wiggins as the second most-decorated Brit in Olympic history.
