The swimming legend told how the rookie initiation skits were great fun and helped sportsmen to relax. Phelps also revealed how he was grateful to Ryan Lochte for breaking a record in swimming.?

“We had a blast with rookie initiation skits”,?Phelps said in his autobiography. Continuing, the 28-time Olympics champ told how all the first-time Olympics participants would perform these initiation skits. Phelps also spoke about how Larsen Jensen imitated Richard Quick, and Carly Piper played Amy Van Dyken. The swimming legend recalled how comical an episode of how Carly was spitting in different directions to imitate Amy Van Dyken during the skit.

The swimming champion then disclosed Ryan Lochte featuring in the skits. “Ryan Lochte played himself, a surfer dude, during a game of Jeopardy, answering some questions right and others wrong, but always answering very slowly,” Phelps spoke. This reflects how Ryan changed his voice modulation to perform the skit effectively.

Phelps went on to talk about Ryan’s competitiveness and how he helped him push harder. Phelps spoke about the magical moment where both looked at one another during the race, knowing one of them would break a record. The swimming champ finished that race at 1:55:94, defeating Ryan and creating history.

The swimming legend then hugged Ryan after that race. This was enough to show that there were no hard feelings between them, despite Ryan losing the race. “I really have to thank Ryan for that record,” Phelps gratefully said in his autobiography.
