The world’s greatest swimmer, Michael Phelps, is an active advocate of mental health. The swimmer runs a foundation that works towards improving mental health globally. Phelps has spoken at various events about the importance of good mental health. Recently, the swimmer appeared with world-class gymnast Aly Raisman at an event. They received great love from fans on social media.

Phelps has experienced shudders about his mental health on many occasions throughout his career. At one point, he was not happy winning titles. Phelps realized that he did not have any more desires. That’s when he knew that he started to become depressed. On the other hand, the six-time Olympic medalist realized her negligence in finding balance in life. Hence, after retiring in 2020, she actively promoted mental health awareness and peaceful living.

Recently, the two legends appeared at a mental health awareness program at Deloitte. After the event, Phelps and Raisman posed for a beautiful selfie together.

Phelps suffered from ADHD

Michael Phelps was in the sixth grade when he was diagnosed with ADHD. He experienced hyperactivity and could not sit through classes. Phelps’ mother introduced him to swimming. At first, he was scared of being in the water, but he eventually loved being in it. Phelps could channel most of the hyperactivity while swimming.

Moreover, at 11 he met his coach Bob Bowman who trained him in championships where he rose like a conqueror. Phelps’s determination to the sport brought him to the peak of his career.
