The state of New Hampshire was still recovering from an alarming number of drownings in August when tragedy struck the state once again. According to a Boston.com report, Hampton Beach in New Hampshire has witnessed the drowning of a 27-year-old Lawrence man. State Police claimed that authorities were informed regarding a potential drowning around 7:30 p.m. They further revealed that two swimmers were spotted in distress when a good Samaritan, 23-year-old New Hampshire resident Casey Torname, jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue both swimmers.

Torname’s rescue was not in vain as he successfully managed to rescue one of the swimmers, 28-year-old Lawrence resident Luis Colon-De-Lara. Unfortunately, 27-year-old Wandy Bethancourt-Adames could not be saved by Torname. Local firefighters soon arrived and recovered Wandy Bethancourt-Adames from the water and attempted CPR but to no avail. He was pronounced dead after reaching the hospital while the survivor, 28-year-old Lawrence resident Luis Colon-De-Lara, was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
