Michael Phelps, who has won 28 Olympic medals in his career, has taken to golf after he retired from swimming in 2016, post-Rio Olympics. Although he has been playing golf since his swimming days, he took the sport really seriously after his retirement. Often sharing matches with his wife, the couple has become quite competitive with each other.

Michael Phelps and Nicole Phelps have built a strong family, raising 3 children together. But that doesn’t stop the couple from being extremely fierce on the golf course. So much so, that there is real smack talk between the two pre-game. Nicole Phelps recently wrote on her Instagram story, “I will be using these tomorrow to beat @m_phelps00”.

Attached alongside was a picture in which lay an opened box with a brand new pair of light-colored shoes. She had also written in the picture, “Happy Mother’s Day to me @gfore”. Gfore is a golf clothing and apparel brand with the tagline, ‘Add color to your game’. Nicole Phelps’s kit was ready and she seemed glaring to go out on the course and beat her husband after a good round of golf.

Michael Phelps, of course, learned of this and shared a story of his own. He wrote in his Instagram story, “Smack talk already?” with an eyebrow-raised emoji, showing his surprise. The swimming legend won’t take this game not seriously.

Michael Phelps has previously talked about how his wife is really good at golf. He had said that despite his trash talk, Nicole Phelps easily outclasses him at golf. Although Nicole Phelps may have started the smack talk this time between the two, it was Michael Phelps who often engages in trash talk on the course otherwise. He, also said that his wife defeated him before when they played.
