19-year-old Michael Phelps created history at the Athens Olympics when he became the first American to win eight medals in a single Olympics game. His achievements shoot his fame by heaps and bounds. He did not just become people’s favorite but also an inspiration. Though for many, he became the swimming legend, he, in reality, was just a young fellow who, much like kids of his age, loved cars and video games.

It is a known fact in that Phelps loves to play golf. The swimming GOAT is often seen in the field playing some golf, but his love for this sport is not new. In 2004, Phelps got an innovative way to merge two of his favorite games. Confused? Well, let’s find out!

Phelps and his love for other sports?

Apart from practicing in the pool,?Phelps?spent his leisure playing video games. He was a huge video game fan. After his Athens win, when the team of IGN Sports sat down for an interview, the question for Phelps was direct:?“What are you playing a lot of these days?”

Phelps was ready with his answer. He swiftly replied, I just picked up Cabela’s Big Game Hunter, which I’ve played a bit and am just getting into, but day to day, I play a ton of Tiger Woods Golf. It’s easily one of my favorite games.”

For the unversed, Phelps loves to play golf, and ever since Phelps announced his retirement from swimming, he has been dedicating his time to the sport. Not just he is spotted with the golfing stick, but the swimming legend keeps himself updated with golfing news. A few days, he took to his Instagram story to?congratulate?golfer Tony Finau for his win.

Michael Phelps helped Tiger Woods in a difficult time

Michael Phelps is a great admirer of golfing legend Tiger Woods. He does not shy away from calling himself his fan. In 2009, the young swimmer was on cloud nine when he got a chance to meet Tiger during the Augusta National. The event allowed Phelps to see Tiger weave magic on the golf course firsthand.

Coming from two different sporting backgrounds, the two connect via a mutual friend, Notah Begay III. Having seen the two closely, Begay realized that Michael could help Tiger in his hours of need. Begay showed great faith in Phelps and?remarked,?“Michael can provide honest and direct feedback, and that’s what athletes of their caliber need the most.”?The swimming legend hence helped Tiger in his difficult time. The two remains on cordial terms.
