Swimming his way to 23 Olympic gold medals, Michael Phelps is the greatest swimmer in the world. He is the most renowned Olympian, holding numerous records. As he achieved everything in swimming, he retired after the 2016 Olympics and ended his career on a high. Now, as a person who cannot step away from the sporting world, Phelps loves golf. He often plays the sport after his illustrious swimming career. In fact, he held the longest televised putt record earlier.

In 2012, he attempted a long putt which went in, to everyone’s disbelief. Fans could not believe what they witnessed and expressed their opinions on Twitter. 

Michael Phelps’ astonishing putt

In 2012, he often appeared in golfing tournaments and tried his luck in the sport. Hence, that moment arrived when Phelps probably broke another record at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He hit a rare hole-in-one which was recorded to be 159 feet. Fans couldn’t get enough of it, and one of them explained how it was “Possibly his greatest ever sporting achievement.

Another person commented on the time for the shot to fall in the hole, “it actually took 16 seconds to go in the hole. Amazing.” Phelps hit the putt along the course, and it took over 16 seconds for the golf ball to fall into the hole. It was amazing to see the televised putt, and some people appreciated his achievements.

However, some fans believed he did not hold the record, as Ian Poulter is the rightful owner of that record.

Member of LIV golf, Ian Poulter, once made a 163-long putt that is considered the longest televised putt. But Phelps is not a professional golfer. So for him to make the putt was astonishing. Right now, Phelps plays the sport whenever he gets time. For Phelps, he credits swimming for helping him to transition smoothly into golf.

Slowly and steadily, Phelps is entering the golfing world, and we might see him challenging for the major tournaments. The odds of that happening is pretty much in favor of Phelps. But everyone will remember him for his stunning putt and showcasing his unbelievable talents.
