After the Rio Olympics 2016 concluded, swimming GOAT Michael Phelps bid adieu to the sport that gave him all. With 28 Olympic medals to his name, Phelps decided his achievements have been fulfilled. He has since dedicated his time and effort to his family, especially his 7-year-old son Boomer. Michael Phelps also picked up on another sport during his later swimming days, which he continues to pursue more rigorously now. In a recent update, he and his son spent some time in that sporting arena.

Golf, a sport that has been very close to Michael Phelps after swimming. More so, after he retired from swimming. He was recently spotted with his son Boomer and a few of his friends on a golf field.

Michael Phelps fell in love with golf very soon after swimming

Michael Phelps recently shared an Instagram story, where he was with his son Boomer on a golf field. His son was holding a golf stick and a golf ball in his hands while posing for the camera. Phelps was standing right behind him. In the image were also present two of Michael Phelps’s friends-cum-golfmates. They were also present there with their kids.

Michael Phelps enjoys golf matches on frequent occasions, so much so that his golf handicap is 10. Phelps enjoys golf sessions with his friends on many occasions, however, they are not the only ones Phelps shares a healthy competition with. Michael Phelps has previously stated how his wife once beat him in golf. His wife, Nicole Phelps also indulged in some smack talk recently with her husband ahead of their matchday on the course.

Michael Phelps has previously stated that he will not be pushing his sons, including Boomer, into a swimming or any other sports career like him. But he believes in imparting the right lessons to his kids. Now, it seems, that the swimming legend wants to teach golf to his 7-year-old son.

Michael Phelps’s dream for his sons Boomer and Beckett

In 2021, Phelps told the Olympic Channel that Boomer was already turning into a “pool rat”, but he wished to maintain distance regarding their careers. However, if Phelps had to push his son towards a sporting career, that would’ve been golf. Phelps expressed the desire to see both his sons at the time, Boomer and Beckett on the leaderboard of the Masters or a Sunday of major. Phelps’s said that he is a die-hard golfer, and watching his sons pursue a career in golf would be an amazing thing to witness as a proud dad.
