The American-born swimmer, Shane Ryan, who competes for Ireland, opened up about his admiration for Michael Phelps. Michael Phelps is an internationally renowned swimmer who holds the world record for winning the highest-ever Olympic gold medals. Phelps has also shown interest in golfing in recent years.

Both Phelps and Ryan have gained an audience in swimming and golf. Ryan believes that just like swimming, golf is a highly technical sport that demands practice to get better. He adores the game of golf because it helps him take his thoughts off swimming.
Ryan said he looks up to Phelps
Shane Ryan claimed that when it comes to swimming, he found Phelps outstanding in every way. He also felt, when it came to setting back-to-back records in swimming, no one could match Phelps’s accomplishments.
Shane Ryan said he strives to reach the level of Phelps.
“He was absolutely incredible. I raced him a couple of times, and that was really cool. I also got to have some conversations with him as well. I don’t think anyone can compete with what he’s done, setting back-to-back world records in races.”
Ryan revealed Phelps was on a different level and hence, was inspired by him.
Michael Phelps also loves golf
Michael Phelps, aka the Flying Fish, is the most decorated Olympian in history. The 37-year-old gold medalist has mostly been renowned for swimming, but he has also tried his hand at golf.

Phelps has played golf numerous times. The swimming giant doesn’t just play golf as a pastime; he is good at it. Phelps was also a part of the ICON series golf tournament. He represented the USA.

At the 2012 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, he made a 159-foot putt. Thus, he revealed his skills in another sport. If he were to ever decide to pursue golf, his fan would surely go into a frenzy.
