The 2023 Swimming World Cup is set to kick off next month. The World Cup is scheduled to take place in three separate places. The Three Meetings World Series will be hosted by Europe. Interestingly, the first leg will begin on October 6 in Berlin and then be shifted to the Greek capital, Athens, and then the final meet will be organized in Budapest.

The competition will follow the tradition of being held in a 50-meter pool (long course meters) instead of the regular 25-meter course. The event holds its own significance as it is going to be a decider for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the World Aquatics Championships in the same year.

The event has also garnered all the hype in the world because the world is going to witness many “firsts” in this meet. One of which is the Athens meet, which is going to be the inaugural appearance of Greece for the first time in the 35-year history of the series. While the German capital will be hosting the meet for a remarkable 22nd time, the city will also surpass all the other cities in the series.

With the competition on the horizon and anticipation reaching its peak, questions may arise regarding the prize pool and rewards beyond the titles of the winners. Let’s take a look at the “massive prize pool” and the thrill the Swimming World Cup will bring.

Previous year?s Swimming World Cup?s prize money

The 2022 FINA World Cup series was co-hosted by Germany, Canada, and the United States, with Berlin, Toronto, and Indianapolis selected as the competition venues. Swimmers scored points on the basis of their finishes in the individual heats, and these finishes earned them FINA points per swim. The swimmers were ranked as per their best three results, which also included points for position and performance. The top 20 athletes for each gender at each circuit stop received prize money based on these standings.

Following each stop, an amount of $112,000 was rewarded to the top 20 swimmers for each gender, resulting in a combined payout of $224,000.

The 2023 World Series will also follow a similar pattern where the prize money will be there for the overall top winner of the series as well as for the top finishers at each individual meet.
