Swimming as a sport has always been welcoming to all age groups. Moreover, some use it to improve their health conditions while some pursue it just to stay fit. Recently, an 85-year-old woman from Casper, Wyoming, shared her swimming regime. While opening up about her journey, she revealed that she was affected by polio at the age of 10, yet she followed her passion.

On May 13, 85-year-old Pat Bronsdon appeared in an interview with K 2 Radio, sharing many interesting things about her personality. Moreover, she relished the swimming adventure that enabled her to enjoy the sport uninterruptedly.

Pat Bronsdon swims three-fourths of a pool effortlessly

85-year-old Pat Bronsdon regularly swims at a local pool in Casper. She easily covers three-fourths of the pool by applying certain tricks to facilitate her health condition. In the interview, Bronsdon revealed that she is unable to move her head from side to side because she contracted polio at the age of 10. Hence, as a solution, she uses a snorkel to breathe properly.

Moreover, to avoid boredom while swimming alone in the water and experiencing solace, she dons an underwater MP3 player. She takes an hour to swim three-fourths of the pool, provided her lane is empty at the local pool. Bronsdon’s idea of swimming alone with her antics is to become independent in the sport without anyone’s support.

Explaining her swimming regime, she also added in the interview, “People are very friendly, it’s a wonderful pool – clean, nice temperature, and everybody knows my name.”

Besides relishing her swimming regime, Pat also shared another fascinating aspect of her vibrant personality, which was to chase love.

In her interview, Pat shared that she has always been a hyperactive person from a young age. Besides getting bullied in school for it, her trait helped her to find her first husband when she went to the Denver University of Business. She ran into a Casper boy at Student Union that made her say, ‘Wow! Look at that!’ Although she was six years younger than him, she began dating him. Later on, they gave birth to two boys.

Moreover, to enable proper education of her children, Bronsdon worked at several places: as a substitute teacher for Dean Morgan Middle School, then at Wyoming National Bank. Moreover, soon when her children grew up, she began selling insurances. During this time, she met her second husband at a parking lot. They shared a common interest in hiking that made her highly resilient.

Besides experiencing so many things in life, Pat is super conscious about her health. At 85, she has a strong core, arms, and legs. To keep her brain sharp, she plays sudoku and scrabble. Moreover, even at 85, Pat does not know when she will stop swimming!
