As a child, Cody Simpson always knew that he wanted to swim for his nation at the Olympics. But a quick detour in his tweens pushed those aspirations aside momentarily. However, in 2019, he found his way back to the sport he loved. Despite being away from the sport for just short of a decade, he wasn’t deterred from fulfilling his dream. At the 2020 Australian Swimming Trials, he finally got to put his aspirations to the test as he set a personal best of 50.22 seconds in the men’s 100m freestyle. Still, he couldn’t swim his way to the freestyle finals. However, he refused to let his pursuit of excellence take a halt there.
With a timing of 52.94 seconds, he found himself in the eighth position on the table in the 100m butterfly finals, failing to clinch a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics’ Australian Dolphins team. Determined to not let go, Simpson decided to work harder and ended up having great seasons in 2022 and 2023. This year, the swimmer decided to give his Olympic dreams another shot by trying to secure a spot on the Paris-bound squad. But he failed to make it to qualify yet again. While he has given up on his chase for the Summer Games, for now, fans are still curious about how much the competitive swimmer makes and his endeavors beyond the pool.

Apart from being a competitive swimmer, the Aussie is also a pop singer. His current net worth is an estimated $5 million. While some of it might have been amassed by the prize purses at swim meets, he earned the majority of this share from his singing career. At the tender age of 12, Atlantic Records signed the internet sensation in 2009. By then, he had garnered a huge number of fans on YouTube by singing covers. Simpson also used the channel to perform a few of his original pieces. Little did the swimmer know about the worldwide popularity that was waiting for him on the sidelines while he struggled through his singing career during those early years!
By the time he was 13, his family had shifted their base to Los Angeles. Simpson was offered a chance to work with Grammy-nominated record producer Shawn Campbell. In 2010, his debut single, “iYiYi,” was released. And a month later, he found himself in the recording studio with Campbell more often. His second single, “Summertime,” was released in September of that year. Simpson has also participated in “Dancing with the Stars.” But by the 5th week of Season 18, he was unfortunately eliminated after claiming the ninth spot. Fortunately, that couldn’t put a pause on his artistic endeavors.

Simpson then went on to release four more albums: “Paradise,” “Surfers Paradise,” “Free,” and “Cody Simpson.” Through sales and streaming of the albums, along with his tours and concerts, Simpson racked up a solid fortune. And in his competitive swimming career, constant media appearances only continued to add more to it. However, this also opened up a new revenue avenue for the Aussie, as his numerous endorsement opportunities over the years have played a pivotal role in that as well.
Apart from music, acting, and competitive swimming, Simpson dipped his toes in several other ventures. He released a poetry book called “Prince Neptune: Poetry and Prose by Cody R. Simpson” in April 2020. The swimmer also founded a sustainable clothing line called “Prince Neptune: The Label.” Featuring a range of hoodies, bandanas, shirts, and more, his range is eco-friendly and features a trident that represents himself and a few other ideals. And his list of endorsements doesn’t stop there!
A long list of brands endorsed by the singer/swimmer
When Simpson was just 15, Atlantic Records hooked him up with a whopping 16 brands. Despite only having two EPs out, he had a huge following on several social media platforms, which worked in his favor. The singer seemed to have had his face all over the place—from 3D printing to home textiles, novelty items, cosmetics, and more! Some of the brands that he endorsed were: Added Extras LLC, The Wish Factory Inc., Power Play Group Inc., H.E.R. Accessories Ltd., C&D Visionary, Accessory Innovations LLC, and others. Brands like Teen Cancer America, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Speedos, and Bonds proudly showcased the swimmer as their brand ambassador. In 2023, the French multinational personal care company L’Oréal appointed him as the newest face of the brand. Along with starring in the ad campaign for their men’s skincare product range, Simpson was also the face of their Paris Power Age Serum and Moisturizer. The swimmer didn’t take much time announcing the news on his Instagram.
Captioned “Being a swimmer in the chlorine for hours a day, I’m glad I have @lorealparis to keep my skin hydrated. Stoked to be in their Men Expert campaign for the new L’Oréal Paris Power Age Serum and Moisturiser. It’s full of hyaluronic acid for long-lasting hydration.” Cody Simpson’s excitement about partaking in yet another endorsement was evident in the professional way he approached it. And even though fans won’t see him much in the competitive space this year, he will still be working on new music. However, the swimmer believes that his Olympic journey will play a huge part in his growth as an individual and a musician. Do you think he is right? Let us know in the comments below!
