Popstar-cum-swimmer Cody Simpson has made a big name in the music industry and is on a quest to do the same in swimming as well. Simpson turned to professional swimming from music in 2019, aiming for an Olympic gold at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Back in 2019, he joined the University of Southern California’s Trojan Swim Elite team under the guidance of his coach, Dave Salo. As destiny may have it, he is well on the road to an Olympic medal, having recently won two golds and a silver at the Short-Course Australian Championships.
While Simpson is a reputed singer, his dedication to the sport is unmatched. However, he has dropped a few hints over his career move, leaving fans in surprise. After winning two golds at the short-course Championship, Simpson announced that these were his last.

The star singer and swimmer won’t retire from swimming until after the Paris Olympics in 2024. In fact, he is even more charged up for future events, with the focus being the Olympics. But, even after missing out on the World Aquatics Championships for the second time, Simpson is determined to make a name for himself in the world of sports.
Simpson made it known to his 5.1 million Instagram followers that he won’t be competing in the short-course championship anymore. Sharing a picture of his two golds and a silver medal, Simpson captioned, “My second and last ever Aussie short-course champs. It’s been real.”
Cody expressed surprise at his victories in the short-course championships. He shared an Instagram reel on his story where he was competing for the 100m gold at the Short-Course Australian Championship and eventually won. “Went down to Sydney last week to race during my training season for the Short-Course Australian Champs. Was stoked to be relatively near personal best times while under training fatigue. Thought I’d share videos for my American mates who always wonder what the hell I’m doing.”, Simpson wrote on his Instagram story.

The End of Short-Course Championship for Cody Simpson
Cody has previously hinted at not competing professionally beyond the 2024 Olympics. With next year’s Short-Course Championship scheduled almost 3 months after the Paris Olympics 2024 in October, Simpson seems likely to be retiring from professional swimming after the Olympics based on his Instagram story caption.

Apart from aiming at an Olympic berth, Simpson will also be hoping to book his seat for the World Championships. After competing in the Commonwealth Games, Simpson missed out on this year’s World Championship. Fans would hope to see Simpson win more medals, and of course, release more albums.
