The 2023 Swimming World Cup has reached its pinnacle, with the last day of the event currently underway. The Hungarian leg is the last leg of the event, where several swimmers have showed their prowess on the biggest stage. Athletes like Michael Andrew, Kaylee McKeown, Sam Short, etc. have been absolutely dominant throughout the competition. One other name that makes it to this list of magnificent swimmers is Lani Pallister of Australia. She has been on a run to deliver remarkable swimming performances, one after the other.
She has been chasing American legend Katie Ledecky’s world record in the women’s 800-meter freestyle for a while now. However, the wait still goes on, but Pallister has extended her professional achievements by once more claiming first place in the women’s 800-meter freestyle, and it was also added with a crowning touch to it.

According to the live coverage provided by FINA on their YouTube channel, racing in lane 5, the Australian prodigy jetted off to a great start with a reaction time of 0.69. In this tiring race, Pallister looked absolutely calm and took an early lead that she maintained until the end. She touched the wall in 8:15.11, while her compatriot Erika Fairweather finished second with an 8:22.30 finish. After the win, Pallister stated, “Really enjoying time with people, on the World Cup, and being in such an incredible facility here in Budapest. You guys have shown so much energy, and it is so much fun coming and competing here, so thank you to everyone.”
Ajna Kesely of Hungary placed third with 8:28.87 on the clock. With this thunderous finish, the swimming phenom also broke the World Cup record that was set by herself. With this, she has also won the prestigious women’s 800-meter freestyle queen crown and taken home the additional cash prize of $10,000 that comes with it. This incredible performance was just one of many displayed throughout every leg of the competition, solidifying her dominance in the latter category.

Her dominance from start to finish
Ever since the Swimming World Cup kicked off, she has been one of those swimmers who were in a league of their own. In the pilot of the event that started in Berlin, the Sydney-based swimmer secured the top spot in the women’s 800-meter freestyle finals with an incredible time of 8:16.82. With this, she also shattered the World Cup record while earning 929 points.

In the second leg in Athens, the swimming sensation once again claimed the top spot in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle category and posted a spellbinding finish of 15:55.73 while again breaking the World Cup record. She left behind Katie Grimes of the United States with 13.08 and earned 893 points to add to her World Cup score.
