4:07.64 was the time that Carson Foster clocked to qualify for the Paris Olympics. The golden brown-haired guy swam like a fish to defeat the Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Chase Kalisz. After securing his first chance at the prestigious quadrennial event, the GOAT Michael Phelps himself felicitated the Ohio swimmer. It was ironic to see the 22-year-old receiving a medal from the Flying Fish whose record he broke six years back!
The Texas graduate is known for his time with the Longhorns between 2020-2023. During this period, he became the 2022 World Champion and a three-time National Champion in the 800m freestyle relay. Back in the 2020 Olympic trials, he failed to qualify but still finished third in the 400m IM event. Finally, Foster will have his opportunity to take up the world’s best at Stade de France this coming July. Foster lately seemed elated as he adorned a flashy medal, by none other than Phelps himself.

A 16-year-old Carson Foster entered the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships and disrupted the world-breaking records held by Olympians. Swimming in the 200m freestyle, the young Ohio-born first shattered Caeleb Dressel‘s held 15-16 NAG record by clocking 1:48.57. Thereafter, he broke Michael Phelps’ 2001 set record by covering 400m distance in almost 3/10th second less than the legend clocking a time of 4:14:73. Cut to the swim trials now, he was seen gallantly getting christened with a medal, along with Shaine Casas on the podium, so life really did come full circle for him. NBC Olympics took to their TikTok to showcase the heartwarming event at the US Olympic Trials, which has cemented Foster as one of the next heir of Phelps, provided he keeps up the same trajectory.

In the same event aforementioned from 2018, Foster also helped the US Men’s 800m free relay team to take down the time set by Australia back in 2009. However, this was not the first time the Ohio-born swimmer bettered Phelps’ record. Back in July 2012, he surpassed Phelps’ 50m fly 10 and was under the NAG record of 1:08.54 – a record that certainly left the world in awe of his future greatness. A merely 10-year-old Foster bettered the numbers with almost a millisecond time and clocked 1:07.24.
It has been almost a decade since the young man has shown his talent on the World stage. With him qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics, can he be the next gold hope for America?
