The Paris Olympics were laden with controversy, and one of the most talked-about incidents involved Luana Alonso, a professional swimmer from Paraguay, who found herself in the center of a media frenzy. Alonso, who made her Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games, didn’t come home with a medal from either Tokyo or Paris, but she sure made headlines for other reasons.

Alonso was expelled from the Olympic Village while the Paris games were still ongoing—something you don’t hear about often! The reason behind her expulsion was equally bizarre: she was accused of being too distracting due to her clothing. Apparently, with a lot of high-profile Paraguayan delegates in the village, her choice of attire raised some eyebrows.

It wasn’t just the clothes, though. After failing to qualify for the women’s 100-meter butterfly semifinal, Alonso made a trip to Disneyland Paris, which, on the surface, was allowed. However, Paraguayan officials weren’t pleased that she chose to be anywhere but the village, supporting her teammates. Eventually, she was asked to move to a hotel, which she did without putting up any resistance. But the optics of the situation, especially after her expulsion, added fuel to the already simmering controversy.

Now, if that wasn’t enough drama, things took another twist when Alonso launched an OnlyFans account right after bidding farewell to professional swimming. According to TMZ, she is charging $35 per month for exclusive content on the platform, which is known for its risqué and sometimes sultry content. However, as per the Daily Mail, Alonso has kept things PG-13—no wild, steamy material here. Instead, she stuck to the type of content she used to post on Instagram: bikini pictures and more toned-down fare.

Alonso, now 20, has taken her departure from swimming in stride, even listing herself as “your favorite ex-swimmer” on her OnlyFans bio. She adds, “Promise you won’t regret this. We’re gonna have a lot of fun together (in the messages),” which sounds like an invitation to connect with fans in a more personal way.

Paraguayan Olympic Committee head Larissa Schaerer opened up about the controversy to The Sun. In a statement given on August 5, Schaerer stated, “Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.” However, in what was a major twist, Alonso herself came out and denied the accusations about being expelled. Taking to her social media, the Paraguayan swimmer asked the media not to spread false information and rumors regarding her leaving the Olympic Village.

As per the Daily Beast, Alonso wrote, “I just wanted to make it clear that I was never removed or expelled from anywhere, stop spreading false information… I don’t want to give any statement but I’m not going to let lies affect me either.” Thus, with the cloud of mystery still very much on the Luana Alonso fiasco, it will be interesting to look out for any new developments in the future. But as of now, fans will have to pay $35 a month to get access to all the exclusive content (and controversies!) from Luana Alonso.
