Swimming is a popular and refreshing sport during the summer. But just like any other water sport, swimming also comes with its fair share of risks. These accidents become more inescapable when there is the risk of higher currents. One such accident has left the community disheartened. A young beachgoer went swimming on a popular beach and went missing.

This boy went missing while he was swimming with his friends, and when his friends reported the incident to the police, they launched a search operation to find the body of the missing youngster.

Another swimming tragedy

As reported by WCVB, Wilinson J. Orbequito, a 21-year-old boy from Hopkinton, Massachusetts, went for a swimming adventure at Sandy Beach with friends on Friday. This group of youngsters crossed the safe-swimming zone and kept exploring around the area of Lake Maspenock, and when his friend returned to the beach after the swim, he noticed that Wilinson had not returned. He called 911 to report the incident, and then the police took the case under their control.

Officials immediately initiated a search mission to find the man, and firefighters and the divers from the Massachusetts Fire District 14 Technical Rescue Team kept searching for the boy. They continued the search for the whole day, but no traces of the boy were found until they had to stop the search due to the bad weather and the light.

A trained K-9 comes to the rescue

Authorities resumed the search operation next day with the help of K-9 Riggs of the Auburn Fire Department. Riggs is a certified fire fighter K-9 who is specialized in swimming for the search operations. Around 8 am the body was recovered, and the dog spotted the body in the 12 feet water and approximately 90 feet from the seashore.

This incident of the young man going from Sandy Beach has left the community saddened.
