7X Olympic Gold Medalist and Competitive Swimmer Katie Ledecky Titled Most Marketable Athlete for 2022

Swimming is one of the most integral competitions in the Olympics. The US has had some stars in this category, in the form of swimmers like Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky. Ledecky, in fact, has been a champion swimmer who made her debut in 2012. Since then, the icon has only trudged forth with multiple records and Olympic medals.

Recently, Katie also added another feather to her cap. Apart from being an iconic swimmer, Katie is now titled the Most Marketable Athlete of 2022. Let’s take a detailed look!

Katie Ledecky termed ‘Most Marketable’ amongst others

The title of ‘Most Marketable’ is determined using various metrics that measure brand strength, reach, audience, etc. This is relevant as it helps judge where the athlete stands in today’s digital age. ‘SportsPro’ ranks athletes based on these metrics and releases its rankings yearly. This year, Katie Ledecky made it to the top 50 Most Marketable athletes list. She stood at a stunning #21, closely followed by snowboarder Chloe Kim.

Besides Katie, athletes like Stephen Curry, Simone Biles, and Alex Morgan also made it to the top 50. Footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, ranked number 1 on the list. Ledecky moved up from her spot last year. Earlier, she ranked #28 on the list. Currently, the champion swimmer also happens to be the 9th woman athlete on the list.

Ledecky made her first debut at the London Olympics in 2012, where she won a gold medal. She became the first woman to win 200, 400, 800, and 1500-meter races in one event. The G.O.A.T. swimmer has countless records to her credit and has bagged 7 Olympic golds till now. The icon has set world records in three categories of swimming – 400, 800, and 1500-meter freestyle. She has been titled USA Swimming Athlete of the Year for five consecutive years. While she continues to achieve more and cross many more milestones, she serves as an inspiration to many.
